"It takes a licking and keeps on ticking"

Seeing these really nice Timex watches, reminds me of the infamous Norwegian investor Fred Olsen. He is still the owner of Timex, at least through the Fred Olsen company which is now run by his daughter. Apparently he was the inspiration for Matt Groening when he created the look of Montgomery Burns. He certainly looks very similar to Mr. Burns. I have actually met him once when I worked on the design of the AutoSock. Fred Olsen was the main investor when they started up and they shared offices in the beginning. A tiny man with translucent skin and liver spots. I was starstruck and afterwards I had to tell everyone that I'd just met Mr. Burns.
