He influenced the world though Apple, who's thinking and products have set the standard and become the reference point for so many people, companies and industries.

Snow White

/ Thursday, January 6, 2011 /

Snow White was Apple's design language in the late 80's as established by Frog Design. Simple main shapes, crisp and graphical detailing, and light off-white color. My favorite part is how Harmut Esslinger insisted on zero draft in the injection moldings. This makes the products look a lot sharper and precise, especially on larger parts. And it would make Apple products hard to copy, since you need more complex and expensive  molds to achieve zero draft. Clever.

Might look like an early incarnation of Kraftwerk but this is Esslinger Design, later called Frog Design, sitting around a WEGA TV they've designed. Harmut Esslinger in the middle. Would later go on to define the Apple design language in the early 80's.
