Flat-eight Porsche + 8 Donnay's = Magic

Mercedes Museum

Designed by UNStudio, also located in Stuttgart and a more conservative building than both BMW and Porsche Museums but with the coolest elevators I've ever seen. More images here.

BMW Museum & BMW World

/ /
Next-door to the legendary Vier-Zylinder tower, lies the BMW Museum, both designed by the same arcitecht, Karl Schwanzer, even though the Museum strongly resembles the work of Oskar Niemeyer. Over an organic pedestrian bridge is the passage to the Coop Himmelblau designed BMW Welt. This is where customers can pick up their car or motorcycle fresh from the production line. A very good collection in the Museum. My favorites: The 2006 Mille Miglia concept, Warhol’s hand painted M1 and Jeff Koons 3-series racer from 2010. More images here.

BMW K40 Konzept

/ /

Found this K40 Konzept from 1995 down in the basement at the BMW Museum in Munich. Typical, BMW quirky design with semi-translucent body-sides (3 years before Apple launched the iMac.) Looks like the engine has the same 55 degree tilt as on the 1200 engine launched almost 10 years later. Googled it, found nothing.
Plenty of more pictures from the BMW museum in my Flickr set.

Porsche Museum

Porsche is located in Zuffenhausen on the outskirts of Stuttgart. Next door to the factory is the Delugan Meissl  designed Museum. Spectacular exterior and a classy interior. One the most impressive museums I've visited and they have a great collection of cars.

...where I'll go in a couple of weeks. These photos were taken by Iwan Baan.
